Since Manchester City were alleged to have breached financial regulations 115 times by the Premier League in 2023, Pep Guardiola has had to manage the club knowing that they could be found guilty.
In November, it was reported that Manchester City could be relegated if the 115 charges against the club’s name lead to them being found guilty of financial wrongdoing.
Last month, Aymeric Laporte revealed Manchester City discussed the 115 charges with him and his other teammates during his time at the club — with CEO Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain stressing that “not a single rule was broken.”
In January, Manchester City’s feelings about the 115 charges were reported to be “calm” and “confident.”
In October, the Daily Mail claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side triumphed over the Premier League in their legal challenge against the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.
Manchester City have managed to remain successful on the pitch despite being involved in one of the most controversial legal battles in footballing history.

Pep Guardiola remains unconcerned about 115 Man City charges
The Sky Blues have managed to win the treble and another Premier League title since being charged.
This season, City have the chance to beat Arsenal to a third consecutive league title and win five in a row. Jamie Carragher claimed Pep Guardiola is unrelated to the 115 charges and his success at Manchester City should not be viewed differently — regardless of the verdict.
As per a report by The Athletic, as far as Pep Guardiola goes, the 115 charges in question are considered an issue that are “not a major part of his thought process.”
Furthermore, Guardiola is mainly focused on the “hunger of his players” and whether the decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium are willing to match his unending desire to strive for perfection.
The report has claimed that the fact that the Catalan is even considered staying at the club should bust any possible myths about the charges having an impact on his decision regarding his future at City — as he is considering penning a one-year contract extension.
It has been revealed that an outcome with regards to the charges is expected to be made official by the end of the year.
In January, a claim emerged that Guardiola would sign a contract at Manchester City if the 115 charges deem the club as guilty of financial wrongdoing and punish them severely as well — a claim that has been repeated in the report — claiming that his chances of a contract extension becoming likelier in such an instance.
Guardiola has already confirmed he will stay at Man City if they get relegated
In November 2023, Pep Guardiola confirmed via BeanymanSports that it is likelier that he sticks around at City if they are relegated to even League One upon being found guilty by the Premier League.
“You are questioning me like we have been punished. And in that moment, we are innocent until guilt is proven.”
“I know the people want it. I know it. I feel it but wait. Wait and see it, the sentence will be done and after, we will come here and explain to you.”
“But absolutely, we are not considering my future, it depends being here or being in League One. Absolutely not. There’s more chance to stay if I am in League One than [if] we win the Champions League.”
It will be interesting to see whether Pep Guardiola fulfils his promise if City are indeed found guilty and potentially relegated to the bottom tiers of English football.
But based on the latest report as well, the Spaniard seems to remain consistent in his bold stance.
Most importantly from City’s standpoint, the charges in question do not seem to affecting Guardiola on a day-to-day basis, who seems solely focused on things on the pitch.
