Manchester City are now keen to sign Crystal Palace No.6 Marc Guehi – a player Declan Rice rates very highly.
It was The Sun who claimed that Pep Guardiola would like to sign the England international.
So, what has been said about Manchester City target Marc Guehi? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the 23-year-old is very highly thought of, after shining for Crystal Palace ever since his £18m move from Chelsea in July 2021.
Gareth Southgate has previously heaped praise on Guehi, while Harry Maguire also believes his fellow England international can go right to the very top.
Rice has also complimented the Abidjan-born defender.
The Arsenal No.41 was asked to describe his England teammates in one word during the recent international break.
Speaking on TikTok, Rice simply said: “Intelligent.”

Guehi certainly seems to be mature beyond his years, regularly captaining Crystal Palace despite the fact he is just 23.
The Chelsea academy graduate has also amassed seven caps for England, and Southgate’s recent decision to rest him in the 1-0 friendly win over Australia suggests he could even start at UEFA EURO 2024 next summer.
Do Manchester City need Marc Guehi?
In our view, Manchester City should only target Guehi if Guardiola loses one of his current central defenders.
The treble winners already have John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol to play in the centre of defence.
Rodri and Kyle Walker can also operate in that area.

Therefore, a move for Guehi would arguably be a waste of money as things stand, unless Guardiola is expecting to lose one central defender next summer.
If a move for the Crystal Palace diamond did materialise – however – it would certainly be a fascinating bit of business, as he is certainly one of Europe’s best young defenders right now.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City monitor Guehi.
