Jacob Wright’s time at Manchester City came to an end this summer.
Having come through the Manchester club’s academy, the midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with Norwich City, and Wright made it clear that he wanted to leave Man City for the Canaries ahead of the current transfer window.
The 19-year-old made just four senior appearances during his time with Pep Guardiola, but the Englishman believes he learned a lot just from training with the quality of players the Premier League giants have in their squad.
After completing a permanent move to Norwich this summer, the youngster has been looking back on his time at City and has stated that some players in Guardiola’s squad were simply untouchable in training.

Rodri is impossible to get the ball off
Wright could have been a replacement for Rodri last season or even given a chance to support the Ballon d’Or winner throughout the upcoming campaign, but everyone decided that it was best for the 19-year-old to move on.
The Spaniard was the perfect player for the youngster to learn from during his short time with Guardiola’s team, and the Englishman has now heaped praise on the 29-year-old, while also complimenting Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic.
“There’s not a bad player at Man City; you are constantly learning when you are around them. Rodri, seeing how smooth his basics are, every little thing he does is just crisp all the time,” Wright said on Talk Norwich City.
“Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic, who are just press resistant, you can’t get near them, they just know how to manoeuvre the ball and their bodies to get away from you at all times.”
Man City fans don’t need to be told how good Rodri is and are hoping the £63m midfielder can get back to his best this season, having missed the entirety of the 24/25 campaign due to his ACL injury.
As for Silva and Kovacic, the upcoming campaign could be the last time City fans see the duo in a sky blue shirt.
Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic’s last season at Man City
Both Silva and Kovacic are out of contract at Man City at the end of the season, and it is unlikely that the midfielders will be offered a new deal given their age.
Silva has been linked to Benfica recently, and being a free agent in 12 months will make a return to Portugal easier for the 30-year-old.
A return to Inter Milan was rumoured to be on the cards for Kovacic this summer. Nothing has materialised on that front yet.
Man City are not expecting the two players to leave before the summer transfer window shuts, but fans of the Manchester club should enjoy the duo while they can, as the 25/26 campaign will certainly be their last at the Etihad Stadium.
