Manchester City have wrapped up a difficult season on a high note, finishing third in the Premier League table and qualifying for the Champions League.

The Citizens may have finished the season without a trophy, but they’ve done enough in the past few months to suggest next season will be considerably better.

Aside from playing better for the most part, Manchester City have also already embarked on a squad rebuild, with several new players arriving through the doors in January.

Joe Cole has now given his verdict on City’s player of the season, and he gave the accolade to a player who has only made 16 appearances for the club this term.

What Omar Marmoush has done that deserves especially ‘big credit’

Marmoush, a £59million signing from Eintracht Frankfurt, has fitted in seamlessly at City, helping the team finish third in the Premier League table and reach the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola recently said Marmoush deserves “big credit” for doing one thing that’s not easy at all at Man City – namely performing well in a struggling Citizens outfit.

“The numbers are very good, the numbers are really, really, really good,” said Guardiola. “So, arrive here, the impact in the middle of the season and in the moment that we are not good.

“Sometimes, one player comes when everything’s fluid and everything’s fine and it’s easy to adapt. But coming when the team is not playing good, that is big value, big credit.”
