Pep Guardiola must be delighted with how Omar Marmoush has fared at Manchester City so far, scoring his sixth goal in the Premier League already against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Egyptian international perhaps had the most pressure to deliver out of all of Manchester City’s signings in the winter transfer window, considering he was one of Europe’s most in-form forwards at Eintracht Frankfurt.
But Omar Marmoush managed to impress from day one and he has already become a key part of Pep Guardiola’s plans, who has trusted him to lead the line in Erling Haaland’s injury-enforced absence.
Marmoush admitted to idolising Mohamed Salah and much like the Liverpool legend, the 26-year-old would also be hoping to become a smash-hit in the Premier League.
Reflecting on Manchester City’s latest 5-2 win against Crystal Palace, Pep Guardiola was asked to give his two cents on Marmoush.

Pep Guardiola impressed by Omar Marmoush for thriving despite Man City’s struggles
Guardiola initially commented on Marmoush’s game, mentioning how he serves as an outlet and grafts on the pitch and adding that he missed some gilt-edged chances against Palace.
But Pep Guardiola was also full of praise for Marmoush, who has impressed Matheus Nunes as well for managing to perform well from day one despite signing for a Manchester City team that were struggling at the time.
Guardiola said via BeanymanSports: “When a team likes to get the ball on the feet, he’s a runner, he’s understood the intensity we like to play with. Look, one goal again, could score easily, I don’t know, in the first one, been pulled from the defender and the last one, for the assist from Kevin [De Bruyne], could score three goals like Macca [James McAtee] easily, he’s in front, one-on-one with the ‘keeper.”
“That is what the team need to try to do, deliver that and after that, score or not score, you have to demand to score. But the only way to score or to create chances and score goals is playing good and today, we did it.”
“The numbers are very good, the numbers are really, really, really good. So, arrive here, the impact in the middle of the season and in the moment that we are not good. Sometimes, one player comes when everything’s fluid and everything’s fine and it’s easy to adapt. But coming when the team is not playing good, that is big value, big credit.
Comparing Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah’s Premier League stats in 2025
Aaron Lennon claimed Marmoush is Manchester City’s future and Pep Guardiola will be hoping that he continues to perform in sky blue.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt marksman has shown that he has the finishing, movement, speed and intensity in his game to grow from strength to strength.
Only Mohamed Salah has outscored Marmoush in the Premier League since the latter’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium.
Salah has scored 10 goals while his countryman has scored six.
The numbers don’t lie as Marmoush looks like the real deal.
