Jose Mourinho could be one of the many world-class managers to coach Kyle Walker as Fenerbahce are interested in signing the Manchester City legend.

The 34-year-old has worked under Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel already throughout his illustrious career.

Fenerbahce made an offer to sign Walker and the veteran could be open to a move to the Turkish giants provided they hand him a two-year contract.

Manchester City are ready to sell Walker and he will have to decide his future now.

Jose Mourinho called Kyle Walker ‘phenomenal’ amid Fenerbahce interest

But Fenerbahce could be a tempting option for Kyle Walker purely because he could have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be managed by Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician is one of the greatest managers in the history of the game and not many players have had the honour of working alongside him.

Based on his comments after the European Championship in 2021, Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of Walker, telling talkSPORT: “Before the penalties [between Italy and England], my Player of the Tournament was Kyle Walker. I think Kyle Walker was phenomenal.”

“From the first minute of the competition until he came out of the competition in the final, he was phenomenal. He was giving cover to centre-backs on the opposite side, I don’t remember him losing one single duel. He didn’t go forward as much, as he does for his club from a strategy point of view.”

Manchester City could send Walker on loan but Fenerbahce might especially be willing to sign him permanently as Jose Mourinho dubbed him an “animal”, which he considers a massive compliment.

“When I call a player an animal, it’s the best compliment I can give to a player. Kyle Walker, absolute animal.”

Players who have played under both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola

Walker could become the 15th player in history to be managed by both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola if he becomes a Fenerbahce player this summer.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC
CESC FABREGAS
NATHAN AKE

ALEXIS SANCHEZ
XABI ALONSO
KEVIN DE BRUYNE
EIDUR GUDJONHSEN
PEDRO RODRIGUEZ
ARJEN ROBBEN
CLAUDIO PIZARRO
PIERRE EMILE-HOJBERG

Walker’s teammates at Manchester City in Nathan Ake and Kevin De Bruyne both became stars under Guardiola but struggled to get game time under Mourinho.

However, some names such as Arjen Robben and Samuel Eto’o succeeded under both managers.

Walker is one of the finest defenders Pep Guardiola has ever managed.

Considering the Englishman is a seasoned campaigner, he could find the process of adapting to Jose Mourinho’s style of play seamless and taste success under the Fenerbahce boss as well.
