Manchester City have been linked with transfer moves for a wide range of players in recent years.
However, as is the case with all clubs, not every player mentioned with a move to City ended up securing a move to the Etihad Stadium.
For instance, the previous summer transfer window saw Pep Guardiola’s side get linked with moves for Premier League duo Eberechi Eze and Bruno Guimaraes.
Since then, the Blues went on to have a strong start to the season but recently hit a sticky run of form where they lost three Premier League games in a row ahead of Sunday’s match against Liverpool at Anfield.
Now though, with the next summer transfer window in mind, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding one particular player who has previously been on the Manchester club’s radar.

Man City eyeing Gabri Veiga after 2023 transfer interest
According to a recent report from Estadio Deportivo, City and Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Gabri Veiga, who could be on his way out of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, just two years after he joined the club from Celta Vigo.
Interestingly, City were linked with a move for Veiga in 2023 before he made his move to the Middle East.
The midfielder’s current contract, which sees him pick up a weekly wage of £191k-a-week (via Capology), is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
How has Veiga fared since his Saudi move?
Since joining Al-Ahli – who City sold Riyad Mahrez to back in 2023 – Veiga has appeared in 39 games across all competitions, scoring eight goals and supplying five assists along the way.
With Pat Nevin recently suggesting that the average of City’s squad is a potential problem for Guardiola, perhaps adding the 22-year-old to their ranks in the next summer transfer window could be a way for the Manchester club to inject some youth into their ranks.
