Man City fans are all saying it’s time for ‘fantastic’ player to leave as transfer news emerges

Manchester City have been busier than most Premier League clubs in the transfer market this summer.

Following a disappointing 24/25 campaign, Pep Guardiola wanted four to five new faces added to his squad before the transfer window opened, and it is fair to say, Hugo Viana has delivered for Manchester City.

Tijjani Reijnders has impressed every pundit and fan with his performance against Wolves, and it is not only the incomings that have been effective at the Etihad Stadium, but also the outgoings.

Guardiola is still not happy with the size of his current squad, and Man City may now be open to allowing a ‘fantastic’ star to leave, having been approached by a big European club, which would go down well with supporters of the Citizens.

Man City fans think it is the right time for Manuel Akanji to leave

Manuel Akanji was an unused substitute against Wolves on Saturday, and that may be Guardiola giving the defender a hint that he will not be a key part of his plans this season.

That may encourage the Swiss centre-back to accept a move away before the summer transfer window shuts, and it is now being reported that the 30-year-old has been approached by Galatasaray.

Man City have wanted Akanji to leave all summer following his struggles last season, and that has not changed, with supporters stating that it is the right time for the defender to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Reacting to Galatasaray approaching Akanji over a potential transfer, one Man City fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Been a very good signing and servant, but due to age and for, it’s the right time. Allow Callum Doyle to fill in this space.

A second City supporter added: “He has to leave imo. Because Stones is ahead of him, Ake is ahead of him, Dias is ahead of him, Khusa is ahead of him, and Gvardiol is ahead of him. So best to leave imo.”

A final Man City fan commented on the situation with: “Respectfully, whatever the offer is, just accept. Had a fantastic debut season, but has been horrible since.”

It was reported last month that Galatasaray were interested in Akanji if the Man City star reduced his wages, so the Turkish club are definitely keen on the defender.

It remains to be seen if a deal can be done for the 30-year-old over the coming days, as a move would be best for everybody.

Galatasaray are yet to submit an official offer for Ederson

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Galatasaray have submitted a £8.5m offer for Ederson as the Turkish giants push for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

The Super Lig champions have a serious interest in the 32-year-old, but according to The Athletic, no official offer has arrived for Ederson, although negotiations are still ongoing.

This is a deal that Guardiola will want wrapped up quickly, as the Man City coach wants Gianluigi Donnarumma to replace the Brazil international, and at present, the Manchester outfit are the only club interested in the PSG star.

It remains to be seen how both transfers play out, but Man City will seemingly be thankful if Galatasaray completes both signings before the transfer window shuts.
