Manchester City look set to have a summer transfer window for the ages.

Rayan Cherki is keen to join Manchester City while Tijjani Reijnders is set to undergo his medical ahead of a move to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

While Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Rayan Ait-Nouri is now a City player, having signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Furthermore, Manchester City are interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is believed to be open to a move to the Premier League.

While the Italian stood out for Paris Saint-Germain as they won an unprecedented treble last season, opinions amongst the City fanbase have been left split about the interest in his signature.

Man City fans left divided about Gianluigi Donnarumma interest

One Manchester City fan believes Donnarumma would be the ideal signing, as he wrote: “Donnarumma and [James] Trafford as our goalkeepers next season would be perfect.”

Another City supporter claimed that while Ederson Moraes is better with the ball at his feet, the former AC Milan being a superior shotstopper is the reason why City should sign him: “We know we won’t be able to find a goalkeeper who is also a midfielder like Ederson. But it will be nice to have a goalkeeper who can actually catch the ball when it’s down to him to save the team. Eddie did his best but this guy is better at that.”

A third Manchester City fan feels that Donnarumma would turn the Sky Blues into juggernauts in Europe once again: “It’s going to be over for the whole of Europe if Man City gets Donnarumma.”

However, other City fans were not too keen on the 26-year-old’s addition, with one claiming: “No thanks, he’s terrible on the ball, so he’s not good for Pep’s system.”

Another supporter pinpointed that the Champions League winner struggles with the ball at his feet, writing: “Amazing goalkeeper but with two left feet, he won’t play under Pep.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan suggested the club to sign Diogo Costa over Donnarumma, saying: “Portugal Diogo Costa is better than this dude. He doesn’t do well with a porous defence and our defence is nothing to write home about, at least lately. Again, he is not a ball-playing goalkeeper to fit perfectly into the system. Take your time and watch Portugal versus Spain today.”

Hugo Viana will have to take a polarising decision if he does sanction the European Championship winner’s arrival.

How Pep Guardiola privately feels about Gianluigi Donnarumma

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed on the Here We Go podcast that Pep Guardiola has always admired Donnarumma, who stood out in the Champions League last season: “There was a meeting more than one month ago between the agent of Gigi Donnarumma and Paris Saint-Germain.”

“Then, they decided from the club’s side to postpone this conversation after the Champions League final and this is probably why Gigi Donnarumma is keeping all the doors open.”

“Contract expiring in one year, he finally won the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain so now they will assess the situation. Paris Saint-Germain still have the possibility of extending his contract but let’s see what happens with the goalkeeper’s market because for example, Manchester City are looking for a new goalkeeper.”

Romano added: “The understanding is that Diogo Costa is a strong option, there are more goalkeepers in the list but Donnarumma has always been appreciated by Pep Guardiola, so let’s see if Manchester City decide to enter the race.”

“Let’s see what happens with Italian clubs, so, for sure, Donnarumma has a lot of interest.”

Considering Guardiola admires Donnarumma, perhaps several Manchester City fans who are not in favour of the PSG number one’s addition might change their opinion.

But with Pep Guardiola confirming Ederson will stay next season, it will be interesting to see whether there is a twist in the Brazilian’s future.
