Man City fans so angry they haven’t signed ‘top’ player who Alexander Isak knows very well

With Liverpool and Arsenal making several additions to their squad this summer, Manchester City fans may perhaps be worried whether they have done sufficient business to win the Premier League next season.

Liverpool intend to sign Alexander Isak while Arsenal are targeting Viktor Gyokeres, two potential statement signings among many who could prove to be the difference between the two sides and City in the 2025/2026 campaign.

While City have done plenty of business themselves, Newcastle United aiming to extend Tino Livramento’s contract means they are yet to sign the rightful heir to now-Burnley right-back Kyle Walker.

Manchester City view Livramento as Walker’s ideal successor but the fans are frustrated that they have been unable to secure his services so far.

Man City fans upset about not signing Newcastle United star Tino Livramento

One disgruntled Manchester City fan wrote that while Liverpool could end up signing Isak, Pep Guardiola’s men have yet to submit a bid to sign Tino Livramento: “They are going to get Isak and we couldn’t even submit a bid for Livramento.”

Another City supporter does not understand how the Magpies could be forced to sell their star striker but the Sky Blues cannot be as persistent as the Reds to wrap up the 22-year-old’s arrival, claiming: “What I don’t understand is that at first Newcastle had told Liverpool that Isak was not for sale and they are not selling him. However, now it’s looking likely they will due to the fact he had asked to leave. Why can’t we do this with Livramento? Convince the player to join then ask him to push for the move.”

Considering Manchester City will pay £65 million for Livramento, a third fan cannot fathom why they are unwilling to test Newcastle’s resolve by offering a higher fee despite Eddie Howe’s side being unwilling to sell the defender, writing: “Liverpool just spent £80m on a striker [Hugo Ekitike] and are probably going pay whatever it takes to get Isak whilst we’d rather settle with midfielders at right-back than bid over £65m for Livramento.”

A fourth fan urged the English giants to make a move for Livramento, who Ashley Cole described as “top”, simply writing: “Newcastle are vulnerable, just go and get Livramento, man.”

Another City supporter cannot understand why they are unwilling to do whatever it takes to sign the youngster unlike their approach in 2021 to sign Harry Kane, claiming: “City forced the move for Harry Kane but now they can’t try for Livramento.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan claimed that the club should break the bank for Livramento, even if Newcastle have decided not to sell him, emphasising: “Man City definitely should be all over the Livramento deal, I don’t care we need to stop respecting clubs and start spending money.”

However, Pep Guardiola’s men have a habit of walking away from potential deals, as was the case when they had targeted Declan Rice before his move to Arsenal in 2023.

Man City’s new stance on signing Tino Livramento

Manchester City will not try signing Livramento, a decision that will frustrate their fans.

Considering Newcastle are set to offer the highly-rated full-back a new contract and the fact that he is willing to put pen to paper has put City off from submitting a bid.

As a result, the Sky Blues are expected to scour the market to sign a replacement for Walker.

Ultimately, as long as City bring in a brand-new right-back who is capable of performing at a high standard, the fans will be content.
