Well, the Brazil international has been in the spotlight across recent weeks.
Couto – a £5.5m signing from Coritiba back in 2020 – is currently shining on loan at Girona, scoring one goal while also providing seven assists as the Spanish side surprisingly sit top of La Liga.
The South American has performed so impressively that Real Madrid are even believed to be monitoring him as a replacement for Dani Carvajal – according to Marca.
José Félix Díaz – a journalist for Marca – actually expanded on that initial story, writing that Real Madrid believe the Brazilian is a realistic target due to the fact his contract at Manchester City expires within 18 months.
Couto himself added fuel to the fire by admitting that Real Madrid are his dream club, when partaking in a Q&A session with Girona’s social media team.
Now – when asked if Couto can replace Walker at the Etihad Stadium – Manchester City fans have responded.
One enthusiastically wrote “yes” four times before calling the Brazilian a “class” player.
Another supporter posted that Couto is capable of holding the width out wide once Walker eventually steps aside, which will allow Phil Foden to drift inside.
One other fan paid reference to Real Madrid’s interest in the right-back, posting that Pep Guardiola needs to give him a chance, or else the Spanish giants will.
