Man City handed double boost as Real Madrid have a new dream midfield target

Real Madrid will look to recruit this summer after an underwhelming campaign for the La Liga giants.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men were beaten in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday by their bitter rivals Barcelona, which followed defeat to the Catalan club in the Supercopa de España, while also being eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Arsenal.

Things do not look much better in La Liga as Real Madrid are trailing Barcelona by four points and even if they turn that around, changes are coming at the Bernabeu this summer.

New signings will arrive and having held a long-term interest in Man City’s Rodri, Los Blancos now have a new dream target for their midfield, which provides Pep Guardiola with a double boost.

Real Madrid dream of Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister has been a key player for Liverpool ever since moving to Anfield from Brighton during the summer of 2023.

The Argentina star added a Premier League medal to his World Cup and Copa America achievements at the weekend and according to Marca, the 26-year-old is now Real Madrid’s new dream target for their midfield.

The La Liga giants expect Trent Alexander-Arnold to join them this summer and would love his Liverpool teammate to follow, however, the La Liga champions are aware that it will be a difficult deal to do as the Reds will not want to lose any players having just become champions of England.

With the eyes of Florentino Perez set on Mac Allister, this could be good news for Man City as Real Madrid have held a long-term interest in Rodri.

Alexis Mac Allister interest hands Man City double boost

Rodri has been injured for the majority of the 2024/25 campaign with a serious knee injury, therefore, a move this summer is very unlikely.

The Man City star was not thinking about other clubs before his setback; however, if the Spaniard returns to his best level next season, Real Madrid’s interest will return, hence why the Mac Allister news is a positive for City.

Should Madrid sign the Liverpool star, it would also be a double boost as it would also weaken Arne Slot’s team and the World Cup winner would not be an easy man to replace.

It remains to be seen what happens at Real Madrid this summer and the next, but a new midfielder is expected at the Bernabeu, and Rodri will not be too far from the top of the La Liga giants’ list.
