Some footballers just don’t look right in another team’s shirt, as Manchester City fans know only too well.
Indeed, City have had a few players over the years where it just didn’t compute that these footballers were playing in sky blue.
Patrick Vieira playing for Manchester City after being so synonymous with Arsenal didn’t seem right, while seeing Frank Lampard in a City shirt took a lot of getting used to after so long at Chelsea.
Indeed, Lampard to City was a Bizarro-world transfer in a lot of ways, the midfielder was such a legend at Chelsea, but, all of a sudden, he was playing for one of the Blues’ big rivals, and he even scored against Chelsea.
Lampard actually had a good record during his time at City, as strange as this deal was.

It was strange to see Lampard at City, and now, City themselves may be facing a similar sort of situation with one of their players.

Kevin De Bruyne to Liverpool could be Man City’s very own Frank Lampard situation
According to Di Marzio, Liverpool this week have made an offer to sign Kevin De Bruyne.
City fans don’t like the idea of De Bruyne joining Liverpool, understandably.
De Bruyne has been linked to MLS, but there have been suggestions that he could stay in the Premier League.
Liverpool had been tipped to bring De Bruyne in, and now, they’ve seemingly made their move.
However, there’s something that really doesn’t feel right about De Bruyne potentially pulling on a Liverpool kit after spending so many years with City duking it out with the Reds.
Frank Lampard did exactly this when he left Chelsea for Man City late in his career, and now, history may be set to repeat itself.
Kevin De Bruyne’s record vs Liverpool
Liverpool could come in for De Bruyne, and it’s not hard to see why the Reds are such keen admirers of the Belgian.
Indeed, De Bruyne may be City’s best player ever, and he’s shown his talents against Liverpool on numerous occasions over the years.
The stats show that De Bruyne has been brilliant against Liverpool over the years.
| Kevin De Bruyne’s record vs Liverpool | |
| Games | 20 |
| Goals | 4 |
| Assists | 9 |
| Wins | 5 |
| Draws | 5 |
| Losse | 10 |
The Belgian is a top player who is capable of continuing to play at the top level, but there is something about the idea of De Bruyne playing in a Liverpool shirt that just doesn’t sit right at all.
