Manchester City could be active in the upcoming January transfer window.

Specifically, City could look to sign a new midfielder in January to strengthen this particular part of their squad.

In fact, following Rodri’s season-ending knee injury which he picked up back in September, Pep Guardiola said a new midfielder could be signed in January.

Since then, City have been linked with numerous midfielders in the weeks leading up to the upcoming winter window.

With just one month left before the window opens, the Citizens have set their sights on another midfielder they could make a swoop for in January.

Man City eyeing Rocco Reitz for January transfer

A recent report from Give Me Sport claims City are keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz ahead of the January transfer window.

However, the report also adds that it could be difficult for City to land this particular deal due to the German side’s reluctance to sell in the middle of the season as well as Reitz’s strong personal connection to his boyhood club.

Incidentally, other Premier League clubs have had their eyes on the Monchengladbach player, although City have now identified him as a potential January target in an effort to help them strengthen their midfield.

Who is Rocco Reitz?

Having worked his way through Monchengladbach’s youth system, the 22-year-old has gone on to make 53 senior appearances for the club across all competitions, chipping in with six goals and four assists along the way.

This season has seen Reitz feature in all of their 11 Bundesliga matches, within which he’s managed to rack up the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (52) at Monchengladbach.

He also has the joint-second-highest total of recoveries at the club, further highlighting his defensive qualities.

With City conceding 17 goals in their six previous matches across all competitions, this showcases the team’s need for some extra defensive stability.

This may have also led to them identifying Reitz as a potential January transfer target for them.
