Here is the latest Manchester City news, with updates on Florian Wirtz, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Rico Lewis.

Manchester City are back at the top of the Premier League and their results over the last couple of weeks have seen them back to their best.

Manager Pep Guardiola will still want to see more from the team as he always aims for perfection, but not every player is performing at their best.

The latest updates cover players in form and out of form as well as transfer news and some new comments from the manager himself.

Manchester City star Rico Lewis has been becoming more of a key player under Guardiola and the manager praised the Englishman but also hinted at a possible position change for Lewis.

Speaking about Lewis, Guardiola told TNT Sports “That position, we started with Fabian Delph. We have incredible memories, [Oleksandr] Zinchenko played there, but Rico helps us do some incredible movements we’ve never seen before.

“Smart, intelligent player. I think his position will be attacking midfielder but for now we have a lot of intelligent players there. With him inside, we always had the opportunity to make our process and our game much, much better. Fantastic player, at this early age, he settled really quick and played really good.”

With the very versatile player only 18 years old, his future is no doubt very bright and if he continues to be managed by Guardiola then he will become a top talent for Manchester City. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him add another position to his qualities as he has already played in both defence and midfield.

Robbie Mustoe on Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku

Jeremy Doku was on fire against Bournemouth last weekend, picking up four assists and also scoring at the Etihad. This saw pundit Robbie Mustoe discuss the winger and his team mate Jack Grealish. Mustoe believes the form of the Belgian international could see Grealish play a lot less.

The pundit was on NBC’s The 2 Robbies podcast and speaking on the pair, he said: “This now could be a problem for Jack Grealish because Doku looks at 21 years of age, what a signing and what a performance, Rob (Robbie Earle)”

It is no shock to see the comments from Mustoe on Grealish and Doku. The English international has not been at his best this season but it is no doubt hard to judge based off a performance against Bournemouth in which the opposition never looked a threat.

We know that Guardiola likes rotation, so it shouldn’t be an issue for Grealish at all as he will get picked for certain games. We saw treble winner Grealish preferred in the bigger match against Manchester United the weekend prior.

Manchester City scout Florian Wirtz

Reports from 90min are now suggesting that Manchester City are interested in Florian Wirtz and that they have sent scouts to watch him play recently.

Apparently they watched the German attacking midfielder play for Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday as they faced Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. The 20 year-old shone in the performance and opened the scoring on the day. This no doubt would have excited Manchester City massively. Wirtz definitely would fit the profile of a player that Guardiola loves to have, he is young, good on the ball and also versatile.

This season, the Wirtz has six goals and nine assists in 15 appearances and although Manchester City haven’t put a bid in yet, it would be a shock if they didn’t make a move next summer.
