Manchester City may have found the perfect Pep Guardiola player after one member of the legendary coach’s squad stood out against Huddersfield on Wednesday night.

The Premier League giants were comfortable 2-0 winners over their League One opponents in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup, with Phil Foden stealing the show at the Accu Stadium.

The England international was not the only player to catch the eye, with Nico Gonzalez playing a key role in the victory, while Man City fans were impressed with some of the things Savinho did on the left.

Following the contest, BBC pundit Sue Smith had praise for another member of Guardiola’s squad, stating that he is the perfect star for the Man City coach.

Divine Mukasa is the perfect Pep Guardiola player

Guardiola opted to play Divine Mukasa as his number nine against Huddersfield and the 18-year-old rewarded his manager’s trust by setting up the first goal of the contest.

Man City expect Mukasa to go far in the sport, and according to Smith, she thinks the youngster is the perfect Guardiola player, having watched his display on Wednesday night.

“Yeah, he’s a talent, you can see he’s a Pep Guardiola player, he’s very technical. His movement was good, he got himself into good positions,” the pundit told the BBC.

“We know he can play as a false nine, out wide, he’s left-footed, but he can use both feet. He’s certainly a player with huge potential.”

Mukasa’s performance will likely see him get more opportunities over the course of the current season, and they might even come as a striker, as the 18-year-old seemed to enjoy his role against Huddersfield.

Divine Mukasa comments on playing as a striker

Mukasa is a natural number 10 with the Man City star previously stating that his style of play is similar to club legend Kevin De Bruyne.

The 18-year-old commented on playing as a nine on Wednesday night, and it seemed that the youngster enjoyed the role.

“That’s the first time I’ve played as number nine,” Mukasa told Manchester Evening News. “[The manager] gives me more of a false nine role, so it’s a bit similar to being a midfielder. Just getting in the pockets and stuff like that. It’s only really in the final third that I’ve got to play as a nine.”

The future is bright for the Man City midfielder, and being versatile will help him get more opportunities, which could then lead to him being a fully established first-team player.
