Manchester City were linked with multiple players during the previous summer transfer window.
However, the only players who made moves to the Etihad Stadium during the window were Savinho, who joined from Troyes for £33m, and Ilkay Gundogan, who returned to City on a free transfer after spending one season at Barcelona.

Journalist shares Jamal Musiala claim amid Man City transfer links
In a recent post on his official X account ahead of Bayern’s Champions League match against Barcelona on Wednesday, journalist Florian Plettenberg gave this update about Jamal Musiala and his current situation on and off the pitch.
He said: “Jamal Musiala is eager to play in Barcelona on Wednesday evening and is working intensively on his comeback after missing the Stuttgart match due to hip joint issues.
“Meanwhile, there is still strong indication that Musiala will extend his contract long-term until 2029 or 2030. All parties are optimistic that Musiala will agree to a new mega-deal.”
What has been said about Musiala potentially joining City?
In the weeks leading up to the previous summer window, The Guardian reported that Musiala was a top transfer target for City, although a move never materialised.
Back in September, Bayern’s president Herbert Hainer said this about Musiala and his future, with the midfielder’s current contract set to expire in the summer of 2026.
He said: “We want to try everything to keep him as long as possible. In my opinion, he could become the second Thomas Müller and play for Bayern for the next 20 years.”
Shortly after that, Fabrizio Romano shared this insight about City’s links to Musiala and Bayern’s attempts to tie him down to a new deal.
He said: “Guys, I can guarantee you that all the top clubs, including these, including Real Madrid, including Man City, including more clubs in England, they all love Jamal Musiala.”
“And in case, he can’t agree a deal with Bayern, they will be there, for sure, not just Real Madrid, not just Manchester City, many clubs.
“But at the moment, Bayern are playing their cards, Bayern are in negotiations with Musiala so let’s wait, let’s see what happens, how this conversation will go.”
Now that Plettenberg has claimed that all parties in Germany are optimistic that Musiala could be about to put pen to paper on a new mega deal at Bayern, this would definitely put a dent in City’s hopes of signing him in the summer.
