While Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 to qualify for the FA Cup final, Pep Guardiola may have been frustrated witnessing Liverpool dethrone his side to become Premier League champions.

With that potentially being the case, the Catalan tactician will have one eye on the summer transfer window as Manchester City could be ready to compete for the Premier League title once again by rebuilding their squad.

Ahead of the summer, it seems like several players are set to depart the Etihad Stadium as City’s new era already seems to be beginning — spearheaded by the likes of Omar Marmoush and Nico O’Reilly.

Ederson could leave Manchester City in the summer and he is one of the big names who could be set to depart the club for them to move in a fresh direction as an institution.

Diogo Costa could replace Ederson at City as the Sky Blues are interested in signing the FC Porto goalkeeper.

Pep Guardiola approves Diogo Costa to Man City move

Now, several details have emerged about Manchester City and their pursuit for Diogo Costa.

Sky Sports Switzerland have reported that Pep Guardiola has already said yes to a move to sign Costa.

Guardiola is believed to have held several meetings with the Portuguese shotstopper alongside City’s goalkeeping coach Xabier Mancisdor.

The report mentions that the reason why Manchester City held the aforementioned meetings with Costa is to assure him that he will be their next number one, with Ederson in talks to join Al-Ittihad and edging towards an exit.

Furthermore, the conversations have also taken place to understand the 25-year-old’s mindset.

Hugo Viana is believed to be in constant contact with Costa’s agent, Jorge Mendes as well as Manchester City intend to wrap up a deal for a fee lower than €60 million (£51 million).

But Porto consider their number one “irreplaceable” and are unwilling to part with him unless his €75 million (£63.8 million) release clause is paid.

What Diogo Costa has decided about his future

Costa has agreed to join Manchester City ahead of the summer window.

Hugo Viana is also reported to be pushing for the move involving his countryman.

With Pep Guardiola believed to question the currently injured Ederson’s injury record as well, all signs suggest that Costa could succeed him at Manchester City.
