Pep Guardiola will be gutted about the fact that since his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City have failed to win a single trophy for the second time during his time in charge.

However, Manchester City still have Champions League qualification to play for and tough tests against AFC Bournemouth and Fulham await his side.

But being the serial winner he is, Pep Guardiola will not be content with managing a City side not fit to seriously contend for silverware at the very least.

As a result, Manchester City are set to bid for Tijjani Reijnders to bolster their side.

The Sky Blues remain hugely interested in signing Florian Wirtz, who will decide his future as they have no intention of simply taking part in any competition they play in for much longer.

Man City target Nicolo Savona set to sign new Juventus contract

As a result, Manchester City were ready to sign Nicolo Savona as well.

So much so that Savona had agreed personal terms to join Manchester City as well.

However, TuttoMercatoWeb have reported that Juventus are close to striking an agreement to keep the Italian defender.

Savona, whose contract runs out in 2029 could now sign a one-year deal and prolong his stay at the Allianz Stadium.

Who Man City could sign instead of Savona

But Pep Guardiola’s men have other options on their shortlist, with Manchester City set to bid to sign Wesley Franca by proposing an initial £29 million offer.

The Brazilian is expected to be keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium and even Tino Livramento is on Manchester City’s radar.

As a result, Savona’s potential contract extension is not the end of the world for Manchester City as they have plans in place to sign other right-backs.
