Manchester City could potentially sign Lucas Paqueta soon, with West Ham United now actively trying to sign a replacement.

City are looking to land the Brazilian and have already failed with a bid for him.

Paqueta impressed in his first season with West Ham, playing a deeper role than he did at Lyon.

The feeling is that, like Mateo Kovacic, he could become a really top player under Pep Guardiola.

There is potentially bad news on the horizon for City, with Kevin De Bruyne limping off against Burnley on Friday.

The Belgian suffered another hamstring injury, and apparently Pep is worried about his condition.

It has been suggested that City could now ramp up their efforts to sign Paqueta.

And City’s luck could be in, because the Hammers are now in talks to land a replacement…

West Ham in talks to sign Mohammed Kudus as Manchester City eye Lucas Paqueta

Fabrizio Romano reported this morning on Twitter that West Ham have now opened talks with Ajax over the potential signing of Mohammed Kudus.

He says that initial talks have started, and that there are ‘positive talks’ on the player’s side.

He is open to making the move to the London Stadium, which could be crucial for City.

Romano says that an approach from West Ham to Ajax has not yet been made though.

That will depend on City’s pursuit of Paqueta.

Romano has reported separately that City will be bidding again for Paqueta.

City have made one bid so far according to Romano. That was worth £70 million.

Kudus being open to West Ham move is good news for City

This is an interesting development in the Paqueta saga.

The narrative over the past few days has been that there is a good chance that Paqueta will sign for City

West Ham boss David Moyes has even admitted that it is difficult telling his player that he cannot join a big club that is competing for trophies such as City.

The deal is there to be done. Especially now that West Ham have actively sought out a replacement just in case.

Kudus is a seriously talented player and would be an amazing signing for the Hammers.

Hopefully, his indication that he’d be keen to join them will ultimately help City get the Paqueta deal over the line.
