Some things never change in football, Real Madrid are still signing the best players in the world, Arsenal still can’t win a title, and Sergio Aguero is still tearing Manchester United to shreds.
Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero of course retired from football back in 2021 after discovering a problem with his heart shortly after signing for Barcelona.
Aguero is an all-time great for Manchester City, and he even has a statue outside the stadium.
However, over in Malaysia, remarkably, there’s another footballer who shares the same name as the Manchester City great.
Indeed, 31-year-old Sergio Aguero currently plays for Sri Pahang over in Malaysia, and on Wednesday evening, he got the chance to make headlines as he played against Manchester United for the ASEAN All-Stars.
The Malaysian side actually upset the odds and beat United on Wednesday, and after the game, speaking to Stadium Astro, Ruben Amorim actually singled Aguero out for praise.

Ruben Amorim praises Sergio Aguero
Amorim was asked to share his verdict on the ASEAN All-Stars after his side’s embarrassing post-season defeat.
Amorim says that the Malaysian side were really good defensively, while he picked Aguero out as a good player, claiming that he controlled the midfield well.
Of course, the more famous Sergio Aguero was a striker, but the Malaysian ace is more of a midfield maestro.
“They did really well, they were really good defensively, I think Sergio Aguero is a good player, he controlled the midfield quite well, good players, that’s normal and they deserve it,” Amorim said.
Sergio Aguero’s record vs Manchester United
Manchester United, somehow, conspired to lose against the ASEAN All-Stars on Wednesday.
This is a game United should easily be winning, but they managed to lose 1-0.
Perhaps seeing the name ‘Sergio Aguero’ on the opposition teamsheet put an element of fear into the United side.
Indeed, Aguero was United’s tormentor-in-chief for a long time when he was in the Premier League.
Aguero had a real knack of scoring against United, netting eight goals in 13 league appearances against the Red Devils, winning the majority of his games.

Now, the younger Aguero has a 100% winning record against United, and, by the sounds of it, he’s even impressed Ruben Amorim.
Who knows? Perhaps Aguero could end up at United at some point. After all, he can’t be much worse than their current crop of players.
