Scott Parker has already said exactly what he thinks of Kyle Walker as he closes in on Burnley move

Manchester City star Kyle Walker looks set to start a new chapter in his career.

After eight years at the Etihad Stadium, the defender is no longer part of Pep Guardiola’s plans in Manchester, as last season was evidence that Father Time has finally caught up with the 35-year-old.

The Man City boss made that clear by leaving the right-back at home while City travelled to the FIFA Club World Cup, and for a while this summer, it looked like it might be difficult to move the player on; however, Walker is now closing in on a move to Burnley.

Many Man City fans are happy to see Walker leave after some of the things he has done over the last year, which is the same feeling for Burnley manager Scott Parker, who will be delighted to reunite with his old teammate.

Scott Parker has always been a Kyle Walker fan

Fenerbahçe were one of the clubs interested in Walker, but the presence of Parker at Burnley would have made the Man City star’s decision on his future easier once the Clarets came calling.

The duo played with each other for both Tottenham and England, and comments the former midfielder made about Walker in 2011 show exactly why the Burnley boss is bringing him to Turf Moor ahead of the 25/26 Premier League season.

“Since I have been at Tottenham, Kyle has really stood out,” Parker told Spurs’ official website during an interview in 2011 via Sky Sports.

“He is a fantastic player. He is young. He has bundles of energy and is very quick. He scored a very good goal last weekend, but his performances before that were really good.”

Walker is not the same player he was back then, as the 35-year-old has lost a touch of his speed; however, the defender has replaced some of his physical qualities with defensive knowledge and Premier League experience.

Kyle Walker’s record against Burnley

By joining Burnley, Walker will be eliminating one of his favourite clubs to play against, as the defender has a very impressive record against the Clarets.

The 35-year-old has faced Burnley on 16 occasions, walking away as the winner from 12 of them, drawing three, and suffering defeat just once.

By moving to Turf Moor, Walker will now have the strange feeling of having to play against Man City during the upcoming season, a club against which the full-back does not have a positive record.

The Englishman has played against City on 10 occasions, winning four, drawing one, and losing the remaining five.
