There is currently major speculation surrounding Pep Guardiola and his future at Manchester City.
As things stand, the 53-year-old’s contract at City is set to expire in the summer, meaning that this current season could be his last at the Etihad Stadium.
When asked about his future in a recent Italian TV show, Guardiola said this about City and potentially becoming the next England manager.
He said: “It’s not true [becoming the next England boss], I can promise you that had I made a decision on whether to stay or to leave [Manchester City], I would tell you. I don’t even know. But anything can happen in life.”
This has since led to one pundit sharing his reaction to what the 53-year-old has now admitted about his future.

Danny Murphy left baffled by recent Pep Guardiola comments
While discussing the subject of England’s next permanent manager in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Danny Murphy said this about potential candidates and Guardiola’s recent comments.
He said: “I think the perfect English candidate is Eddie Howe or as perfect as there could be.
“Very articulate, very good in front of the press, very calm, somebody who’s got a track record of managing top-flight football for a long time.
“Seems to get on with the players well, has always tried to play football the right way with a positive front-foot attitude, the fans like him.
“If you’re going for an Englishman, I can’t see a better option.
“The other option as I said earlier, if you can get the best in the world then you get them, that’s Pep.
“Obviously [Jurgen] Klopp’s not on the table because he’s taking that new role at Red Bull.
“I am surprised that Pep left the door open, because why not just say that will never happen if you’ve got no intention of ever managing England?”
Guardiola said he’d ‘love to stay’ at City
Back in July, Guardiola said that he’d “love to stay” at City beyond his current contract, although hinted that he wouldn’t be there for another eight years.
More recently, Murphy claimed that Guardiola has already decided his future and will end up staying at City beyond this season.
Having overlooked 483 matches in total with the Citizens, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has seen his side win 357, draw 60 and lose 66 of those matches.
In that time, Guardiola has guided City to multiple trophies across the domestic landscape and in Europe as well as breaking numerous records in doing so.
Now that Murphy has questioned why the City boss has remained open to the potential options in front of him in terms of his next managerial move, this will further add to the intrigue of whether Guardiola will extend his contract at the Manchester club or not.
Moving forward, it would be ideal for everyone if a decision gets made about Guardiola’s future sooner rather than later, so the speculation gets put to bed and the focus can get back to football.
