Manchester City have been busy on the transfer front this summer, both for their senior squad and for their academy.
A month ago, it was reported that Man City were closing in on the signing of Kaylen Moss, a midfielder in Liverpool’s academy.
It has also been reported that Tottenham’s Dexter Oliver and Aston Villa’s Freddie Lawrie were also in the picture to move to City.
Now, City are among the clubs said to be after another Premier League club’s “crown jewel” – and their fans are not impressed.
Fulham fans sweating as Manchester City among clubs who want to sign Seth Ridgeon
The Secret Scout previously reported that Man City and Liverpool are monitoring Seth Ridgeon’s situation, with his Fulham contract expiring this summer.
More recently, Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian reported that Man United and Chelsea have joined the race for Ridgeon.
Steinberg reported that Man City, Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea are all pursuing Ridgeon, who is yet to make a decision on his future.
Fulham fans were disappointed by the reports, with one fan writing on X: “Another talent going for nothing… what is the point at this stage?”
Another said: “The big clubs just stockpile youngsters in the hope that one or two will come good. The system is broken.”
One fan urged Ridgeon to stick with Fulham, saying: “The young guys need to think long and hard about leaving…
“I hope they have somebody to tell them that, Fulham’s youth system is great and it will make them good players!
“The grass is not always greener! Keep your feet on the ground and work hard, is the best thing to do.”
Another wrote: “Embarrassing state of affairs at this level of the game and club developing talent should be better protected.”
And another said: “Don’t know much about Seth Ridgeon, but if you insist on not playing your academy grads, your academy grads will go elsewhere.”

What Seth Ridgeon could bring to Manchester City
Ridgeon is a 16-year-old attacking midfielder who transfer insider Graeme Bailey has described as Fulham’s “crown jewel”.
Last season, Ridgeon split his time between Fulham’s Under-18 setup and the Under-21s, and he looked a cut above among his peers in both age groups.

“The versatile midfielder loves to control games from a range of positions in the middle of the park, equally capable of dictating from deep or chipping in with goals from further up the field.”
