Tim Sherwood shares what he really doesn’t want to happen to Oscar Bobb at Man City

Oscar Bobb is one of Manchester City’s brightest talents.

The 21-year-old broke through at the Manchester club last season with his goal against Newcastle capturing the attention of every football fan in England.

This season promised to be a campaign where the Norway international would kick on, however, Bobb suffered a broken leg back in August and it has kept him out for the majority of the 2024/25 season.

Bobb only returned to action for Man City in March and having sat on the sidelines for the majority of the campaign, pundit Tim Sherwood has revealed what he doesn’t want to see happen to the 21-year-old this summer.

Man City need to keep hold of Oscar Bobb

Man City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea during the summer of 2023 and the Englishman has gone on to have great success at Stamford Bridge, which has left fans of the Manchester club fearing it happening again with another star.

Speaking on OPTUS Sports’ The Weekend Wrap, Sherwood has been praising several of Man City’s young stars, with the pundit stating that he hopes the Manchester club do not sell Bobb this summer.

“They have McAtee as well, I think he will get a run of games next season, Lewis too,” Sherwood said. “They had to sell Cole Palmer, but I hope these players aren’t sold, Oscar Bobb too.”

Bobb is not likely to play much for Man City throughout the rest of the season as Guardiola will be wary of the player coming back from his serious injury, having only featured in the Premier League for 13 minutes.

The legendary Man City coach will look to keep Bobb fresh for the 2025/26 campaign as there is no chance that the Premier League champions will sell the 21-year-old.

Man City should consider a loan move for Oscar Bobb

Having been out of action for nearly a full season, Bobb will find it tough to break into the Man City starting 11 next season, especially with the Manchester club hoping to add new players to their squad during the summer.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is Man City’s top target and the German star plays in similar positions to Bobb, which will only add to the competition.

Next season, it may be a good idea to send Bobb out on loan to a Premier League club as that would get him back up to speed, while also earning him experience in England’s top flight.

Selling the Norwegian star should not be an option for Man City this summer, but if the player is open to leaving on loan, that is a route the Manchester club should go down, unless Guardiola has big plans for the youngster.
