‘Unbelievable’ Man City player could earn £11m-a-year if he decides to leave now

The futures of several Manchester City stars remain up in the air with several weeks left in the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola saw Tijjani Reijnders added to his squad last month, in addition to Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Marcus Bettinelli, which means exits will need to take place soon.

The legendary coach made it clear that he does not want to work with a large squad throughout the upcoming campaign, and the exit of James McAtee is Man City’s main focus at present, given that the 22-year-old will be easy to move on due to the interest in the English star.

Players such as Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips will be tough for the Manchester club to part ways with this summer, while there is another group of players who Guardiola does not want to leave, but is open to if a suitable offer arrives, with one member of this group still on the list of Saudi Arabian clubs.

Al Ittihad and Al Nassr still want Ederson

Caughtoffside are reporting that Saudi Pro League clubs Al Ittihad and Al Nassr are understood to still be interested in signing Ederson this summer, with the duo ready to “aggressively” pursue the 31-year-old.

The report states that both clubs, who are supported by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, are ready to offer the Man City star a two-year contract worth a total of £22m (€25m).

Al-Ittihad have been showing interest in Ederson since before the summer, while the Man City star was pursued by Al-Nassr last year; however, the Saudi club could not reach an agreement with the Manchester club on a transfer fee.

“It’s a huge relief that Ederson and [Stefan] Ortega are staying,” Guardiola said via Sky Sports following Al-Nassr’s interest in Ederson last summer.

“We couldn’t have gone through this unbelievable eight-year process without Ederson. Impossible. His charisma. His consistency. To replace the goalkeeper is tricky in the way that we play, so I’m really pleased he stays.”

The future of the 31-year-old has been up in the air ever since, despite Guardiola stating that Ederson would remain at Man City for the upcoming season.

It seems that if the right offer arrives for the Brazilian, the Premier League giants would consider selling, as interest in the goalkeeper is not only coming from Saudi Arabia.

The other clubs interested in Ederson

Napoli tried to sign Ederson last week, but that deal is unlikely to happen during the current transfer window due to the finances needed to sign the Brazilian international.

In addition to the Italian champions, Galatasaray have also shown recent interest in Ederson, with the 31-year-old believed to be open to the move once his salary demands are met.

If City become open to selling the goalkeeper this summer, others are very likely to join the race, with the situation of the Manchester legend being one of the stranger cases within Guardiola’s squad at present.
