Kevin De Bruyne won’t be leaving Manchester City this summer after much speculation over the past few days – and a report has now shared what he is unlikely to do now as the club seek to extend his contract.
De Bruyne has been front and centre of the gossip columns since the weekend.
It had been suggested that the Belgian playmaker had agreed personal terms with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad. But these claims were dismissed by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Then, Pep Guardiola commented on the De Bruyne situation and suggested the player won’t be leaving.
De Bruyne only has one year remaining on his contract at City.
There has been some talk about him potentially signing an extension, and a report has now dropped an update on that situation following all the speculation over the last few days.

De Bruyne has long been a target for the Saudi Pro League.
They see him as a superstar and feel luring him would do wonders for the profile of the league.
But seemingly, despite their ability to offer incredible riches, De Bruyne won’t be making the move. At least, not yet.
Give Me Sport have reported on the De Bruyne situation this evening and they provide some information regarding the prospect of the player signing a new deal at City, since he only has one year left.
They claim that it isn’t normal practice for City to offer a player of De Bruyne’s age the same pay terms. The club are therefore ‘facing up to the possibility of having serious difficulties convincing Kevin De Bruyne to sign a new contract’.
The suggestion is that De Bruyne would not entertain extending his contract at City if it meant playing for less money, knowing about the money he could go and earn in Saudi.
Currently, De Bruyne is thought to be the best-paid player in the Premier League on around £400,000 per week. This was a deal he negotiated with the club himself.
Prior to Guardiola’s comments about him staying, it was claimed City would have been open to letting De Bruyne leave for around £50 million.
De Bruyne extension feels unlikely
So De Bruyne will be sticking around at City for at least one more year, but him signing a new deal doesn’t feel likely at the moment.
We have already heard the player talk about the money on offer in Saudi, and there is just a feeling that he might want a slice of the cake.
De Bruyne was recently reported to have been left ‘impressed’ by the earning potential at Al-Ittihad. So it would be no surprise if he shunned the opportunity to extend at City in favour of a lucrative contract to play in Saudi for a couple of years.
Given the fact his contract expires next summer, there would also be potential for De Bruyne to command a massive signing-on bonus.
