What Ronaldo Nazario has done behind the scenes to help Brazil appoint Pep Guardiola as next manager

Virtually every club and international football federation will have their sights set on Pep Guardiola’s future at Manchester City.

Last month, it was revealed that the “internal feeling” at Manchester City is Guardiola will extend his contract until 2026.

However, soon after such reports, Pep Guardiola confirmed his future was undecided at City.

Martin Keown once claimed Guardiola is the greatest manager in history and many hold the same opinion ever since he has established his domination of English football.

No wonder decision-makers at clubs and international sides across world football will be plotting ways to persuade the Manchester City boss to sign on the dotted line for them.

Guardiola already knows Ronaldo Nazario eyes him as next Brazil manager

On Saturday, it was claimed that the Brazil job piques Guardiola’s interest — having been frustrated that the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) distances themselves from hiring after his spell at Barcelona.

In February, the two-time treble-winner also told ESPN that he would like to lead a nation out in a tournament such as the Copa America.

A report by SPORT has claimed that Ronaldo Nazario, who is aiming to displace Ednaldo Rodrigues as the next president of the CBF has communicated to Pep Guardiola’s brother and agent, Pere Guardiola that he wishes for him to manage Brazil. As a result, the six-time Premier League winner is believed to be “aware” of the legendary striker’s intentions.

It has also been revealed that the World Cup winner’s campaign revolves around landing Guardiola as his nation’s next manager.

Pere Guardiola used to manage Ronaldo Nazario and as a result, the pair share a strong relationship.

It is believed that Pep Guardiola is yet to accept or reject his former Barcelona teammate’s offer.

In July, CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues told ESPN Brasil that Brazil boss Dorival Junior’s position is safe until the 2026 World Cup.

Pep Guardiola seemingly rejected Brazil job recently

Seemingly, Pep Guardiola rejected the Brazil job after his side’s 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Sporting CP, despite laughing during his answer and showed his intention to help Manchester City return to their unplayable best.

Guardiola said: “After losing 4-1, I am no longer an option for Brazil.”

“More than ever, I want to lift up the team and return them to their top level.”

Based on Pep Guardiola’s recent admission, Ronaldo Nazario’s dream might have to wait.

It seems like Guardiola’s focus is on helping City play their best football and return to the top of the Premier League table.

With all the signs pointing towards the Catalan staying for one more full season at Manchester City, perhaps the idea of managing Brazil will only well and truly be on his mind after 2026.

For now, it seems like the Etihad Stadium is where the decorated coach’s heart is.
