It remains to be seen if Manchester City are done signing players during the current transfer window.
The summer so far has mostly gone to plan for the Premier League giants, having brought in six new faces, which is more than what Man City set out to achieve before the transfer market opened, with four to five being the target.
Pep Guardiola has had most of the concerns in his squad addressed, but one glaring issue remains unsolved: right-back.
Man City have been linked to many full-backs this summer, but their search has not been fruitful. The Manchester club’s top target has been clear from the beginning of the summer, but it now looks like they are going to miss out on the player.

Tino Livramento is closing in on a new Newcastle contract
It was reported this week that Man City still believe they can sign Tino Livramento this summer, despite Newcastle being adamant that the right-back is going nowhere ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
It has also been previously stated that Livramento is keen to sign a new contract at St James’ Park, and that has now moved a step closer.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle are progressing in talks with Livramento over a contract extension as the Magpies look to fend off Man City’s interest.
The new deal will include an improved salary, with the club said to be preparing to present their offer to the 22-year-old full-back in the near future.
The report also states that Manchester City continue to monitor the England international closely; however, Newcastle have not changed their stance on the defender leaving.
It would take at least £80m for Newcastle to consider selling Livramento, but that is not a fee City are willing to pay for their number one right-back target.
Man City are done signing players this summer
This news follows a report that was published this week from the Daily Mail, which stated Man City are done signing players this summer, and are now focused on trimming Guardiola’s squad at the Etihad Stadium.
“City are suggesting incomings are done, saying that there are no plans to bid for Tino Livramento at Newcastle United and that there are no ongoing talks around a right back,” Jack Gaughan wrote.
“It should be noted that there have been changes of heart with transfer business over recent months. For instance, the noise initially was that City would prioritise a right back over left back – but then pivoted to Ait-Nouri from Wolves.”

With the fee Newcastle are demanding for Livramento, it is very difficult to see Man City changing their mind on this stance and signing the 22-year-old this summer.
Guardiola goes into the 25/26 campaign with a clear issue at right-back, and only time will tell if it will need addressing during the January transfer window.
