Manchester City have had a fairly strong start to their 2024/25 season.
After beating Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, City have gone unbeaten in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup.
In their latest match, Pep Guardiola’s side secured their first European win of the campaign by beating Slovan Bratislava 4-0 away from home.
This match saw City equal Manchester United’s unbeaten streak in the Champions League.
With four players getting their names on the scoresheet on Tuesday night, one of them have since found themselves being praised by a pundit and former Premier League star who knows everything about finding the back of the net.

Alan Shearer hails Erling Haaland after Slovan Bratislava goal
On the subject of how Erling Haaland went around the goalkeeper to score his goal in City’s win against Bratislava, Alan Shearer said this on the matter in a recent edition of The Rest Is Football.
He said: “You’re the opposition as a goalkeeper. You look at who you’re playing against and what they tend to like to do.
“It’s like they haven’t got a clue what he’s going to do one-v-one with a goalkeeper. He can do everything as you’ve just said. Brilliant.”
So far this season, the Norwegian has bagged 11 goals in nine matches across all competitions.
What else has been said bout Haaland’s goalscoring skills?
Since joining the Manchester club back in the 2022 summer transfer window, the striker has scored 101 goals in 107 games across all competitions.
In addition to winning multiple trophies with the Blues, the 24-year-old has also won numerous individual awards during his time as a City player including two Golden Boots.
Shearer isn’t the only former Premier League striker to share their praise for the City star this season, as Peter Crouch recently shared his astonishment at the way Haaland scored his 100th goal for City against Arsenal.
As well as Crouch, Ian Wright also claimed that Haaland could become the first player to score six goals in one league match this season given the form he’s been in so far this term.
Taking all of that into account, it appears that despite having two full seasons in England with City, defenders across the Premier League and beyond still can’t deal with the many ways in which Haaland is able to find the back of the net.
