Erling Haaland provides Man City fans with two-word injury update

Man City have been in top form in recent weeks.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently unbeaten in seven games, which was increased this week thanks to Matheus Nunes’ late winner against Aston Villa, and the Manchester club will be full of confidence ahead of their FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

This run-of-form was not expected after Man City’s win in the last round of the FA Cup against Bournemouth as that contest saw Erling Haaland pick up an ankle injury.

Guardiola has been impressed with how Omar Marmoush has stepped up for Man City in the Norwegian’s absence, however, the Spanish coach will be very keen to have his main goalscorer back to full fitness.

Erling Haaland provides fitness update

Although Haaland has not reached the heights of previous seasons throughout the current campaign, the striker has still put together big numbers for Man City with the 24-year-old producing 30 goals and four assists across 40 games for the Manchester outfit this season.

The forward is expected back before the end of the season and Guardiola will be hoping to have the Norway international back should City reach the FA Cup final and for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

Haaland has now provided Man City fans with an update on his fitness, posting a picture to his Snapchat story of his boots ahead of training with the caption ‘Getting there!’.

This is a huge boost for Guardiola ahead of a crucial period in the season and City fans will be expecting a return date from the Spanish coach soon.

How have Man City fared in Erling Haaland’s absence

Since Haaland’s injury, Man City have won four out of their five matches, with their only draw coming in the Manchester derby against Man United.

City have scored 11 goals in that timeframe, with the likes of Marmoush, Nico O’Reilly and Kevin De Bruyne all chipping in for the Manchester club as they push for a top-five finish.

The last few weeks have shown that Man City can cope without Haaland, but heading into the new season, fans of the Manchester club will be looking at the 24-year-old to lead the way as Guardiola’s men look to win the Premier League title back off champions-elect Liverpool.
