How James Trafford privately feels about signing for Man City now after holding talks with Newcastle

After taking the opportunity to play regular first-team football for two seasons at Turf Moor, James Trafford could be given a chance to further advance in his career.

Manchester City are eyeing a move for Trafford and with Galatasaray agreeing a move to sign Ederson, the Sky Blues could ramp up their efforts to bring the Englishman back to the Etihad Stadium.

It’s safe to say that after City let the 22-year-old go in 2023, not many would have expected that they would try to re-sign him just two years later.

However, in fairness to the youngster, he has grown leaps and bounds as well since leaving Pep Guardiola’s men.

For Burnley last season, James Trafford kept 29 clean sheets in 46 Championship games in what was an outstanding campaign for both him and the Clarets.

On the other hand, Ederson admitted he underwhelmed for Manchester City last season and even during the FIFA Club World Cup, the 31-year-old made uncharacteristic errors against Juventus and Al-Hilal.

The Telegraph reported that Trafford, who dreamt of being Manchester City’s goalkeeper for years has had his head turned by his former club’s interest.

The revelation may come as a surprise to the St. James’ Park faithful, considering Trafford held talks to join Newcastle United as well.

Newcastle United’s new stance on James Trafford move

While City had a disappointing season by their lofty standards, they remain an elite club and one that a majority of players across world football would still be keen to join, such as the England U-21 international.

Newcastle have admired Trafford for months but with Manchester City entering the fray to sign him, they are ready to walk away from a battle for his signature.

Furthermore, the Magpies are believed to be comfortable with Nick Pope being their starting goalkeeper.

Several Sky Blues fans would be hoping that sooner rather than later, Trafford returns to Pep Guardiola’s side as even Stefan Ortega could depart the Etihad Stadium, as exclusively revealed by Manchester City News.
