Kevin De Bruyne’s time at Manchester City is coming to an end.

The legendary Man City star is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season and the 33-year-old has decided to end his time in Manchester after ten very successful years.

The midfielder will look to end his time with City on a high by helping them qualify for the Champions League and lifting the club’s eighth FA Cup at Wembley in May.

Alan Shearer was full of praise for De Bruyne’s performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday, which highlighted the Belgian international’s love for the Manchester club.

The 33-year-old’s display showed that he can still perform at the highest level and Ian Wright has suggested what Man City would have been saying to De Bruyne before he made his decision to leave.

Ian Wright believes Man City wanted Kevin De Bruyne to stay

Kyle Walker joined AC Milan on loan during the January transfer window and although it remains uncertain if the defender will join the Italian giants permanently, the full-back will bring his Man City career to an end this summer.

Wright believes De Bruyne may feel the same way as Walker heading into the summer, suggesting that both are physically and mentally done after many years of fighting at the highest level, however, the pundit believes Man City would have wanted to keep the Belgian superstar.

“I think it’s probably his decision. The club would probably keep him,” Wright said on The Kelly and Wrighty show. “He must be drained and finished now. This is an opportunity for him to go.

“I think Man City would’ve said to him ‘just stay, stay and shepherd it through.’ But I think he needs to move now the way Kyle Walker has moved on, maybe they’re just done physically and mentally in this situation.”

Wright still thinks De Bruyne is ‘underrated’ by some people and wherever the Man City legend goes next, the former Arsenal star will likely be keeping an eye on his progress.

What’s the latest on Kevin De Bruyne’s future

Following Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace, De Bruyne stated that staying in England remains an option for him next season with Don Hutchison suggesting that Liverpool could be an option for the Man City legend.

That is very unlikely to happen, although Paul Hirst has reported for The Times that the 33-year-old will look at any options he receives from European teams before deciding his next move.

Inter Miami and Saudi Arabian clubs are showing interest in De Bruyne with the midfielder preferring a move to the United States, which could create an incredible partnership between the Man City star and Lionel Messi.

This is the most likely route De Bruyne goes down once he leaves the Etihad at the end of the season and no matter what he does, it is guaranteed that City fans will be watching.
