Man City’s Erling Haaland told he is absolutely nailed-on to make one move in the future

One of Manchester City’s biggest priorities as a club must be to tie Erling Haaland down to a new contract as he well and truly is one of a kind.

In an era where there is a dearth of world-class strikers, City are privileged to have a goalscorer of the calibre of Haaland on their books.

The likes of Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski are on the wrong side of 30 and as a result, Manchester City would not view either of the pair are potential replacements for the 24-year-old Norwegian.

Pep Guardiola discussed Viktor Gyokeres by claiming that as important as he is to Sporting CP, the Sky Blues have “the best striker in the world” in Haaland.

Before signing for Eintracht Frankfurt last year, Omar Marmoush, who is one of Europe’s most in-form goalscorers had no registered even 10 goals in a single Bundesliga season at VFL Wolfsburg. As a result, the Egyptian forward still remains largely unproven as a consistently top player at the highest level.

A fresh revelation has now emerged about Haaland’s future at the Etihad Stadium, whose contract runs out in 2027.

Man City transfer news: Haaland tipped for future La Liga move

Speaking to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, he has revealed that the two-time Premier League winner looks guaranteed to head to La Liga at some point in his career.

“I’ve always been told that [Erling] Haaland was one that was very much in Barcelona’s sights. I think La Liga would love Haaland to be there alongside [Kylian] Mbappe to create the new [Cristiano] Ronaldo- [Lionel] Messi sort of thing, so I think a lot of people in Spain are pushing for that sort of deal.”

“Obviously, [Robert] Lewandowski’s coming towards the end of his career now, but when will we see it? I think it looks more likely [in] 2026 but I firmly believe that [Erling] Haaland will end up in Spain at some point, it’s just a matter of when. I don’t think we’ll probably see it in 2025 so I think that will be put to bed until 2026, to obviously tie in with a new contract as well.”

It was reported on Tuesday that Haaland is a transfer target for Barcelona, with president Joan Laporta dreaming he signs for the club one day.

Last month, a claim surfaced that Haaland eyeing a move to Real Madrid in the future, with Florentino Perez also keen to get a deal over the line.

Haaland’s contractual situation at Manchester City is one that seems set to be resolved, as it was stated in September that he looks poised to sign a new and improved deal at the club until 2029.

In March last year, Haaland was quizzed about Real Madrid’s reported interest and he shut down any links revolving his exit from City.

“I’m really happy, especially with the people I’m surrounded by. The manager, the directors, the board, I am really happy I have to say. I say this now, it will probably be a massive headline, tomorrow, you never know what the future brings but I am happy. You can write this but you also have to write everything I said before. I am happy.”

“Yeah, my focus is mainly now on the pitch, there’s a lot of games, two days ago a derby, now the Champions League, Sunday is Liverpool so I think I should focus on that.”

With how Haaland instructed the reporters to mention that he is content at Manchester City, he did not seem interested in leaving the Sky Blues anytime soon.

With Pep Guardiola expected to extend his contract at City until 2026, the star striker will also have the draw of continuing to work with arguably the best manager in the world.

While things can change at the drop of a hat when it comes to transfers in European football, for the time being, it seems like Haaland sees no reason to bid farewell to the Premier League.
