Manchester City fans have several reasons to feel apprehensive ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

There remains widespread uncertainty throughout the goalkeeping department, with Galatasaray pushing to sign Ederson – while Manchester City News understand Stefan Ortega would like to leave this summer.

Two goalkeepers could therefore arrive at the Etihad Stadium this summer, with Hugo Viana currently working on a deal for Diogo CostaManchester City also hold an interest in James Trafford, who left the Citizens for Burnley in July 2023.

There is also a need for a new right-back after Kyle Walker was sold to Burnley.

However, Manchester City fans are now angry about a bit of news which is actually unrelated to the transfer window.

Manchester City fans gutted after hearing Adidas partnership could have happened

As you may have seen, Manchester City announced a new 10-year partnership with Puma last week, worth a record £1bn.

In a new story from the Guardian which delves into the details of this agreement, it was revealed by Matt Hughes that Adidas and Nike both pushed to work with Manchester City, but Puma managed to fend off the two sportswear giants.

Manchester City fans are not too keen on Puma anyway, and the revelation that Adidas were trying to strike a deal has upset some supporters even further on X (previously known as Twitter).

One Manchester City fan exclaimed: “We had an offer from Adidas. You do not understand what we’ve just missed out on. I’m genuinely seething.”

Adidas have a strong grip on the Premier League right now, and have already created some attractive kits for the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Leeds.

A second Manchester City fan found an example of what Adidas did for New York City – another club within the City Football Group who play in sky blue – posting: “Imagine if we got Adidas, we’d have kits like this.”

Clearly, many within the fanbase much prefer Adidas to Puma – with little mention of the bid from Nike.

A third supporter emphatically added “City (and) Adidas would’ve added 500 years to my lifespan singlehandedly” as another simply wrote “Adidas would have been so much better” – unlucky Puma.

Puma partly redeem themselves amongst the Etihad Stadium faithful with stylish away kit

Manchester City fans have quite evidently made it clear they prefer Adidas, but there is some consolation from the Puma deal in the form of the new away kit, which supporters are very pleased about.

Puma have created a slick, black collared shirt for Manchester City to wear away from the Etihad Stadium, a strip which has gone down very well with the fanbase – one supporter even said it is an “absolutely stunning” creation.

Unfortunately, for those Manchester City fans out there who dislike Puma immensely, they will have to put up with the sportswear manufacturer for the next decade.
