Manchester City may need to find themselves a new manager for next season.
As things stand, Pep Guardiola’s contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire in June.
This means that unless he signs an extension beforehand, the current campaign could be his final one as City’s manager.
Guardiola recently claimed that he has yet to make a decision about his City future, further adding to the speculation about the next step in his managerial career.
Focusing on one particular manager who has recently been mentioned as a potential replacement for Guardiola at City, a journalist has claimed that another Premier League side also have him in their sights.

Man United eyeing Ruben Amorim move amid Man City manager links
In a recent post uploaded on his official X account, journalist Florian Plettenberg gave this update on the matter.
He said: “Ruben Amorim is not only on the list at Manchester City as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola, but Manchester United in particular are also interested in him.
“MUFC have already made specific inquiries about him and his situation. The Red Devils want to be prepared but still trust Erik ten Hag for now.
“39y/o Amorim is not planning a move in winter since he has big ambitions with Sporting. However, his contract, which is valid until 2026, includes a release clause next summer.”
What has been said about Amorim replacing Guardiola at City?
Earlier this month, it was reported that Amorim would 100 per cent be interested in replacing Guardiola at City.
Following that, Amorim said this about whether Hugo Viana’s appointment as City’s next sporting director will lead to him becoming their new manager.
He said: “They are different paths. We just have a professional relationship, which will not last forever. Hugo Viana wants to win more than everyone at Man City.”
Since being appointed as Sporting’s manager back in March 2020, Amorim has overlooked 225 matches in total prior to their away league match against Famalicao.
Across those 225 games, the 39-year-old has seen his side win 159, draw 33 and lose 33 along the way, picking up several trophies in the process.
If Amorim is the number one choice to potentially replace Guardiola in the summer, City may have to work out a deal for him as soon as possible if necessary given United’s interest in him.
Although given the significant number of trophies Guardiola has won during his time at City, it seems likely that everyone’s ideal scenario would be to see the Catalan sign another contract extension.
