Manchester City will see several players depart the club on loan over the coming weeks.
This is part of the process of trimming down Pep Guardiola’s squad, with Jahmai Simpson-Pusey the closest to an exit as the defender closes in on a temporary switch to Celtic for the 25/26 campaign.
Man City recently completed the signing of Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg, and despite only moving to Manchester, the Norwegian talent will leave the club on loan to aid his development, as he will not get many minutes this season with City’s first team.
Vitor Reis has requested to leave Man City on loan for the upcoming season, while the Brazilian is set to be joined by Claudio Echeverri, who is currently being pursued by AS Roma.

Man City will not allow Claudio Echeverri to join Roma
It was reported this week that Roma are keen on signing Echeverri on loan for the 25/26 campaign, as the Italian side want to add to their attacking options.
According to the Daily Mail, this is not an option for the Argentina star, who is not expected to move to Italy before the transfer window shuts.
“Nypan, represented by Haaland’s agent, is heading out on loan for his development, and the talk is he should be followed by January arrivals Reis and Claudio Echeverri,” Jack Gaughan wrote.
“Lyon have hoped to land a City youngster, while sister club Girona are also an obvious destination. Echeverri is not expecting to head to Roma, having been linked with the Argentine who was handed a debut in the FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace.”
This is a very smart decision from Man City, if it was the club who made it, as Roma would not be a good fit for the midfielder if he completed the move.
Claudio Echeverri should avoid Roma move
The most important thing for Echeverri when deciding his next team is whether he is going to play regularly, which would not be the case if the £12.5m star moved to Roma.
The front three positions are all occupied in Gian Piero Gasperini’s 3-4-2-1 system, with Evan Ferguson likely to start up front with Argentina duo Paulo Dybala and Mathias Soule supporting the Irish striker in the ten roles.
The system would certainly suit Echeverri, but the 19-year-old is unlikely to play regularly with the players who are already at the Italian club.
Therefore, Echeverri should consider a move to Lyon instead or even to a La Liga club, as the youngster would then get to play in one of the world’s best leagues, while also being more comfortable in a country that speaks his language.
