Manchester City secured a huge win against Wolves on Friday night.

Pep Guardiola’s men secured all three points thanks to a first-half goal from Kevin De Bruyne with the victory putting the Manchester club in a great position to secure Champions League football next season as they sit third before their rivals play over the weekend.

Man City are currently nine games unbeaten and one man who has played a big part in this has been De Bruyne as he looks to end his time at the Etihad Stadium on a high.

De Bruyne is set to leave Man City at the end of the season and speaking about the midfielder after his performance against Wolves, Shaun Wright-Phillips feels that letting the superstar go this summer could be a mistake.

Shaun Wright-Phillips wants Kevin De Bruyne to stay

Man City will not perform a U-turn on De Bruyne as it looks like Chicago Fire could be the Premier League legend’s next destination.

After Man City’s win over Crystal Palace last month, De Bruyne did not rule out staying in the Premier League and Wright-Phillips believes the Manchester club are running the risk of the 33-year-old joining a rival over the summer.

“If I’m thinking for myself, I’d give him (De Bruyne) a year without hesitation,” Wright-Phillips told the Premier League. “Even if you think he might not be able to do it, the stuff that he does bring to the game, not many people in football can do right now.

“To let him walk away and possibly end up at a Liverpool or somebody that’s a rival could, in many ways, be more harming.”

A move to another Premier League club is very unlikely given the Belgian’s relationship with Man City as a switch to MLS seems to be the most likely outcome for the 33-year-old.

However, interest from European clubs could have a big impact on this, and Wright-Phillips has a feeling one major club could come calling for the Man City legend this summer.

Bayern Munich may be interested in Kevin De Bruyne

Speaking about De Bruyne after his performance against Wolves, Wright-Phillips stated that he feels Bayern Munich could be a club that may show interest in the midfielder at the end of the season.

“I don’t see him staying in the Premier League,” Tim Sherwood said when discussing the 33-year-old’s future on Optus Sport.

To which Wright-Phillips replied: “Whenever I’ve been asked, something keeps saying Bayern Munich to me, that’s the one I can see.”

Having played in the Bundesliga before and being fluent in German, this is a move that would definitely appeal to De Bruyne, should the Bavarian outfit come calling.

Whether that happens remains to be seen as the expectation should be at present that the next chapter of the 33-year-old’s career will take place in America.
