Manchester City will see several big names head for the exit door at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

After an underwhelming season for Pep Guardiola’s squad, the Premier League giants are set to undergo a revamp during the summer, which many City fans feel should have happened a year ago.

Kevin De Bruyne looks set to join Chicago Fire as the Belgian will bring his 10-year career in Manchester to an end once the current season concludes, while the future of Bernardo Silva at Man City remains up in the air.

Another Man City star key to Guardiola’s success in recent seasons is also ready for a change of scenery ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with the player’s family now ready to leave Manchester at the end of the season.

Ederson is ready to leave Man City this summer

Ederson has been at Man City since completing his move from Benfica during the summer of 2017 and the goalkeeper has been a major success at the Etihad, with many considering the Brazilian as one of the best in his position during his time in England.

Al-Nassr showed strong interest in Ederson last summer and it was clear that the 31-year-old wanted to move; however, the Saudi Pro League side would not match the £50m asking price of City.

Heading into the upcoming transfer window, The Athletic’s Sam Lee has stated that Ederson and his family are now ready to leave Man City and that they would ideally like to remain in Europe.

“Ederson, it feels like time to move on, not because City have outgrown him. It’s like the old rip the band-aid off thing after the treble, or, like last summer,” Lee said on The Athletic FC Podcast.

“It’s like, in hindsight, could you have got rid of Ederson and started this rebuild sooner? Yeah, maybe. But it’s like he’s so good, and I feel like whoever they’re going to get in is going to be a step down.

“You just got to do it a different way, a step down in terms of his distribution. But he wanted to go last summer. City said, ‘Okay, well, £50m’ and Saudi Arabian teams, they don’t generally pay high fees, they pay high wages, but they don’t pay high fees, and nobody was willing to pay it.

“But, you know, they’ve had another year to kind of work on that. His people, I think the family are ready for a move away from Manchester. I think ideally they’d go to Europe, but if not, then Saudi’s fine.”

Should Ederson leave, Man City will need a replacement and the Premier League giants already have one in mind.

Man City will find it hard to replace Ederson as not many goalkeepers are as good with their feet as the Brazilian star.

However, the Manchester club may have found the closest thing as Man City are keen on bringing in FC Porto’s Diogo Costa, who is said to have already given an initial green light to the move.

The latest on the transfer is that the goalkeeper’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to find an agreement to pay under the player’s release clause as Man City hope to sign Costa for around £34m (€40m).

The Portuguese star is a player who is known to Hugo Viana, but it remains to be seen if City make an official offer for the 25-year-old, or if they pursue another player to put in between the sticks at the Etihad.
