Bernardo Silva can consider himself as one of the few players in Manchester City’s current squad who has played with different generations of the club’s biggest names.
When Kevin De Bruyne named David Silva as City’s greatest-ever player, he discussed how he has played with other legendary figures at the club such as Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero as well.
Bernardo also managed to train, play and share a dressing room with the likes of Aguero, Silva, Kompany and Yaya Toure amongst several other Manchester City greats.
The same can be said about the likes of Ederson Moraes, Ilkay Gundogan, Kyle Walker and John Stones as well.
Bernardo named Phil Foden as Manchester City’s most skilful player — another player who could go down as a legend at his boyhood club one day.
Bernardo also commented on Erling Haaland’s demanding nature from himself — who signed for City in 2022 but he could already be considered an icon amongst the fanbase.

Bernardo Silva says Savinho has “the same style” as Riyad Mahrez
Riyad Mahrez is another player who continues to be cherished by the Manchester City supporters — who left the club after winning the treble in 2023 to sign for Al-Ittihad.
The Algerian joined Manchester City in 2018 — winning four Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy in a treble-winning season, three Carabao Cups and two FA Cups.
When quizzed about how his verdict on Savinho in an interview with Pro: Direct Soccer, Bernardo compared him to Mahrez.
“He’s got the same style as Riyad [Mahrez], everyone is talking about that. Being Brazilian, speaking the same language as me, I think he’s adapting very well.”
“He looks like a nice guy who wants to work so it’s going to be easy for him.”
Erling Haaland also branded Savinho as “amazing” — who has enjoyed an impressive start to life in England.
Micah Richards also likened Savinho to Mahrez due to his ability to dribble on his inside and his outside like the former Leicester City winger.
Mahrez suggested Savinho plays exactly like him on social media as well.
Demba Ba also compared Savinho to Mahrez during Manchester City’s 2-0 win against Chelsea at the start of the season.
Savinho named Mahrez as his “inspiration” after signing for Man City
The Brazilian would appreciate being compared to a hero at Manchester City and one of the best wingers to have ever graced the Premier League already.
After Savinho revealed Mahrez is his idol after he signed for City.
“Yes, yes. Since I was little, like my friend, my dream was also to get here at Manchester City.”
“He always said that I looked a bit like Riyad but Mahrez is Mahrez, Savio is Savio.”
“I don’t want to create expectations for people, I just want to show my football. But I really like him, his football, for me, I’d say he’s an inspiration here, that’s why I chose his number [26] and I’m excited to get playing.”
So far, it has not seemed like Savinho has been impacted by the pressure of donning Mahrez’s number whatsoever.
The former Troyes wideman seems to be enjoying his football at Manchester City.
Savinho would be hoping to become a mainstay at City like Mahrez was as the season progresses.
