If Manchester City manage to tie Erling Haaland down to a brand-new contract, the club would be sending a message to the rest of the Premier League that they are prepared to continue dominating English football.
It was claimed on Sunday that Manchester City are happy to increase Haaland’s wages to up to £500,000-a-week as they are keen to ensure their star striker puts pen to paper until 2029 — with the only stumbling block being that the club wish to erase the release clause in his deal.
However, the Leeds-born superstar is believed not to be on board with that being the case.
Haaland has arguably been the best player in the world ever since he signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2022.
The Norwegian has the most goal involvements out of any Premier League player ever since heading to the Etihad Stadium.
| SINCE THE 2022/2023 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON | |||
| PLAYER | GOALS | ASSISTS | TOTAL GOAL INVOLVEMENTS |
| ERLING HAALAND | 75 | 13 | 88 |
| MOHAMED SALAH | 45 | 28 | 73 |
| BUKAYO SAKA | 33 | 27 | 60 |
| OLLIE WATKINS | 39 | 21 | 60 |
| SON HEUNG-MIN | 30 | 19 | 49 |
As a result, the 24-year-old’s value to this Manchester City side is worth its weight in gold.

Erling Haaland’s family on board with new Man City contract
Currently, Haaland’s contract runs out in 2027 and ever since signing for City, his future has always sparked several headlines.
It was revealed in September that Haaland is closing on a new deal at Manchester City.
As per a report by The Mirror, Manchester City have received a “positive response” about the lucrative offer they have made to Haaland from his family and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta.
The former Borussia Dortmund goalscorer’s current wages are believed to be £375,000-a-week.
A potential £125,000-a-week increase in Haaland’s wages signals a massive statement of intent on the Sky Blues’ part.
In March, Haaland expressed his happiness at Manchester City when he was quizzed about a future transfer to Real Madrid — which could mean that he is satisfied from both a footballing and a financial standpoint at the club.
Haaland’s father revealed he wants to play in every major league
While City will be delighted that Haaland’s family seem to be on board with their contract offer, their star striker’s father expressed his son’s intention of playing in every major European league.
Alf-Inge Haaland said on Viaplay’s documentary, ‘Haaland: The Big Decision’: “I think Erling [Haaland] wants to test out his capabilities in every league.”
“Then he can stay in every league for three to four years maximum.”
“He could have two and a half years in Germany, two and a half in England and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?”
If Haaland fulfils his potential new deal at Manchester City, he would have spent seven full seasons at the club.
The Sky Blues can hope the two-time Premier League winner spends nearly a decade and even longer at the club and establishes himself as one of their greatest-ever players.
