One football manager has made it very clear he’s desperate to sign a player from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

With just over a month remaining in the transfer window, there remains plenty of time for more chopping and changing at Manchester City.

The bulk of the club’s signings have already been sorted, with major additions Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait Nouri arriving in June.

James Trafford will soon make it signing number six when he returns to the club in a £27m deal from Burnley, with the goalkeeper choosing the Blues over Newcastle United.

Trafford did not play in Burnley’s friendly against Huddersfield Town on Saturday ahead of making the switch.

City may still explore a move for a right-back, though that might be challenging since Tino Livramento is unlikely to leave Newcastle and Wesley is joining Roma.

Instead, most of the action in the remaining days of the transfer window will likely be heading away from the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola aiming to shrink his squad.

Jack Grealish and James McAtee are prime candidates to leave, while one manager has made it clear he wants to sign Ederson.

Galatasaray manager still desperate to sign Ederson from Manchester City

Ederson has admitted he had a difficult season last term and his future has been in doubt throughout the summer.

Galatasaray have been heavily linked for weeks, with the Turkish giants keen on making a £3m deal to sign the veteran Brazilian shot-stopper.

Now, even their manager, Okan Buruk, has publicly expressed his desire to sign Ederson.

As reported by journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu on X, formerly Twitter, Buruk said: “Ederson is a very important option for us.

“Will Manchester City let him go? That’s also an important matter.”

Manchester City stance on Ederson staying at the club

The answer to Buruk’s question is no, City will not be letting Ederson go this summer.

You can’t blame Galatasaray for trying, though, with City spending £27m to sign Trafford, it would make a degree of sense for clubs to think they could sign Ederson.

Not many clubs can afford to spend so much on a goalkeeper and not make them first-choice, though the free-spending Liverpool are one of them.

As are City, who are planning to keep Ederson this season as No.1, with Trafford providing real competition for a place should his form not improve.

Trafford can also spend a season training under Guardiola and preparing to replace Ederson when his contract expires next year.

Instead, Stefan Ortega is likely to depart, with the likes of Burnley, Leicester City and another Istanbul outfit in Fenerbahce, all linked.
