With Manchester City failing to win a single trophy last season, their mission during the ongoing summer transfer window would have been to add as much quality as possible to their squad.
So far, it seems like Pep Guardiola has been granted three top-quality signings in particular, with Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri all looking the part during the FIFA Club World Cup.
Considering Hugo Viana is happy with Marcus Bettinelli’s signing while Sverre Nypan is widely considered one of the best youngsters in the world, City fans have plenty of reasons to be excited for the future.
James Trafford is on Manchester City’s radar as well and in the Championship last season, he was the standout goalkeeper in the division.

Diogo Dalot tipped Man City target Diogo Costa to become ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’
The Sky Blues also seem to be chasing Porto number one Diogo Costa.
Manchester City are working on Costa’s signing behind the scenes as they intend to submit a £51.9 million bid to secure his services.
Diogo Dalot lauded the 25-year-old while opening his Padel Athletic Club project in May 2023, saying via the Daily Mail: I think [Costa] is already more than ready for this leap [to an elite club in Europe], which will happen when he decides, whenever.”

Manchester City have admired Costa for ages and it will be music to their ears that Dalot claimed that his countryman will become “the best goalkeeper in the world” one day.
“I’ve had the opportunity to tell him several times that he has that ability and for me, he will be the best goalkeeper in the world soon.”
Manchester United’s stance on signing Diogo Costa
Considering Dalot has played 97 times alongside Costa, his verdict would certainly be worth its weight in gold for Manchester City.
However, only time will tell whether the Sky Blues’ intention is to sign both the Portuguese goalkeeper as well as Trafford.
Ederson is closing in on joining Galatasaray while Manchester City News exclusively revealed that Stefan Ortega’s camp are assessing his options as well.
Ruben Amorim wished to sign Costa, instructing Manchester United to bring him in but Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that Emiliano Martinez and Senne Lammens are their current targets.
“For the goalkeeper, they have some experienced options like Emi Martinez and Dibu would be keen on a move to Manchester United. But at the moment, still no direct negotiation with Aston Villa. And then, Senne Lammens, save his name, playing for [Royal] Antwerp, 23 years old, I’m told Manchester United have interest in this player, he’s been scouted, monitored in recent months.”
As a result, it seems unlikely that United will compete with City for a move for Costa.
