The summer transfer window is set to be a big one for Man City and Pep Guardiola.
The Manchester club have experienced an underwhelming season in comparison to the high standards they have set throughout the Spanish coach’s era as City have found themselves in a battle for a place in next season’s Champions League, although this weekend saw them take a big step towards that goal.

The Premier League giants will not want to experience this again next season and therefore, this summer Man City plan to recruit four to five new faces in order to propel the final two years of Guardiola’s current contract.
Man City are very likely to already have their summer plans drawn up, but one former City star could potentially become a free agent in the coming weeks and the Manchester club should consider a move.

Leroy Sane’s Bayern Munich future cast into doubt
Bayern Munich secured the point they needed this weekend to win the Bundesliga title and Sane played his role in the 3-3 draw with RB Leipzig as the winger got on the scoresheet.
The German star is out of contract with the Bavarian club this summer but it looked like the 29-year-old would pen new terms with Bayern this summer, however, things have been cast into doubt as the former Man City star has changed agents.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the agency that had most recently been negotiating with Bayern Munich on behalf of Sane was close to reaching a full agreement on a new contract until 2028, however, the winger has now informed them that he is now represented by Pini Zahavi.
This has reopened negotiations and there is doubt over whether the Bundesliga giants would even agree to new terms.
Bayern Munich are hoping to extend Sane’s contract; however, the German giants are said to be unwilling to significantly improve their current offer, reports Florian Plettenberg.
Internally, Bayern had hoped for a quicker agreement with the German star to avoid the current situation with the new talks focusing primarily on the signing fee.
Arsenal are waiting in the wings to see if they can recruit the 29-year-old for free this summer, and this is a situation Man City should also be watching.
Man City should consider bringing Leroy Sane back
Man City could part ways with Jack Grealish this summer, while the future of James McAtee is also in doubt with both players being wide options for Guardiola throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
This would leave a gap for Sane to fill and having spent four years in Manchester before being sold for £55m in 2020, the German would not need a lot of time to get up to speed with Guardiola’s methods.
The 29-year-old seems like a no-brainer considering he is a free agent this summer and it was clear that Guardiola was a fan during his time at the Etihad Stadium, evident with the praise he offered the winger after he scored in a Champions League group stage win over Hoffenheim back in 2018.
“The first goal was beautiful,” the City manager said about Sane via The Daily Mail. “The second goal was a bit lucky because his control was not good, but he finished it.”
Man City fans have called for Sane to return on many occasions and this summer offers the Manchester club to grant them their wish.
The German would cost nothing, earn less than Grealish, and would offer the Premier League giants much more, which is why it should be considered, especially when Guardiola has other areas he needs to recruit for ahead of next season.
