Changes are expected at Man City this summer after a tough season for the Manchester club.
Pep Guardiola’s men went from winning four Premier League titles in a row to a fight for a place in next season’s Champions League, which is looking good after their win over Aston Villa last week, as City currently sit in fourth spot.

Achieving this, as well as winning the FA Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, could salvage the campaign for Man City, but the Manchester side will do everything they can this summer to make sure there is no repeat throughout the 2025/36 campaign.
A bit of a rebuild will need to be undertaken ahead of the new season, and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd doesn’t think a crucial Man City man will be at the club come the end of the summer.

Man City told Pep Guardiola could quit this summer
Some key figures from Guardiola’s reign are set to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer as Kevin De Bruyne will leave Man City at the end of the season, and the Belgian will be joined by Kyle Walker.
Others, such as Bernardo Silva and Ederson, are also attracting interest from clubs, with Porto’s Diogo Costa tipped to replace the Brazilian at City.
This is a significant rebuild for Guardiola should all of these players leave and according to Boyd, he doesn’t think the Spanish coach will stick out the summer and will quit ahead of the new season, despite having a contract at the Manchester club until 2027.
“Look, I know Pep Guardiola was delighted after he won the game against Aston Villa, but I’m not sure if he goes again next year,” Boyd said on Sky Sports News on Wednesday morning.
“I don’t know if we have time to get into this, but I’m not sure if Pep Guardiola goes again next year. He might look at it and say a rebuild is very difficult. That’s where Man City are right now. I know he signed a new deal, but I’m not sure Pep goes again next year.”
This would be a huge shock for Man City should Guardiola make this decision and it would compromise them going into next season, which is why the Spanish coach is unlikely to walk away.
What players are Man City targeting for their rebuild
Premier League champions Liverpool expect Man City to be back challenging next season and Guardiola is expected to lead this as the legendary coach will not want to walk away on the back of the 2024/25 campaign.
Man City’s top target is Florian Wirtz as the Bayer Leverkusen star is seen as the perfect replacement for De Bruyne. City are also looking to add Morgan Gibbs-White to their midfield and Guardiola was spotted chatting to the Nottingham Forest star at the weekend.
Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso is being targeted for the left-back role in Man City’s 11, while a right-back may also need to be signed, which depends on how Guardiola wants to use Rico Lewis.
A lot of work needs to be done at Man City this summer and that becomes even more complicated with the FIFA Club World Cup taking place in America.
The gap to Liverpool can definitely be closed and should Guardiola and his team bounce back next season, it will only add to the Spanish coach’s impressive legacy.
