Man City are set to see many key figures of the Pep Guardiola era leave this summer.

The current campaign has been underwhelming by the Manchester club’s high standards, as City have spent the last few weeks fighting for a place in next season’s Champions League, although the season can be salvaged by achieving this, in addition to the FA Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

A revamp is required at the Etihad Stadium, which is coming, as Kevin De Bruyne looks set to leave for MLS, while the future of Bernardo Silva is also up in the air.

In addition to the midfield duo, it looks likely that they will be followed out the exit door in Manchester by Ederson and with Man City keeping an eye on the market to replace the Brazilian, one target may have just ruled himself out.

Gianluigi Donnarumma wants to stay at PSG

With Ederson’s future uncertain, it was reported this week that Man City are interested in Gianluigi Donnarumma as Paris Saint-Germain are yet to offer the Italian a new contract, despite his current deal expiring in 2026.

This interest will have increased after Donnarumma’s impressive display against Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday night and after the contest, the 26-year-old made his plans for his future clear.

“I’m under contract for one more year… It’s up to the club,” Donnarumma said via Fabrizio Romano. “If PSG want me to stay, I’m gonna stay. We just have to sign the new contract, but it’s up to the club”.

This would be great news for PSG as the goalkeeper is admired by his teammates in Paris, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia praising the Italian in a mixed zone interview after helping the Ligue 1 champions get past Aston Villa in the Champions League quarter-finals.

“As always, Donnarumma was excellent. I don’t know what to say, he is a great goalkeeper and also an extraordinary person off the pitch,” said Kvaratskhelia to GFFN.

Should the 26-year-old remain in Paris beyond 2026, this would require Guardiola to look elsewhere with Man City also very keen on Porto’s Diogo Costa, who Hugo Viana knows well from his time in Portugal.

As for Ederson, it remains to be seen what happens with the Brazilian goalkeeper, as the 31-year-old is a star Man City will find hard to replace.

What is the latest on Ederson’s future

Al-Nassr showed strong interest in Ederson last summer and it was clear that the 31-year-old wanted to move; however, the Saudi Pro League side would not match the £50m asking price set by Man City.

Ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, Al-Ittihad have already approached Ederson and unlike last year, the transfer is very likely to happen if the Saudi club make an official approach.

Ederson’s family are keen to leave Manchester in order to experience something new after spending the last eight years in England.

The future of the goalkeeper will likely become clearer in the coming weeks as Saudi clubs will begin to take action on their interest, while the Brazilian will be finished helping Man City achieve the goals they have for the remainder of the season.
