Considering Pep Guardiola has seemingly extended his contract at Manchester City until 2026, it’s safe to assume that he could not be any more satisfied with life at the club.

Guardiola has already won every single trophy at the club and at this point, he has nothing left to prove and is instead only enhancing his reputation as a once-in-a-lifetime manager.

Yet, Pep Guardiola is set to surpass Jurgen Klopp at the end of his deal to become the longest-serving manager at one club in Premier League history behind David Moyes, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

Manchester City fans celebrated Guardiola’s contract as his prolonged stay represents the possibility of the club’s golden era continuing for a longer period of time.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to extend his contract came to a “personal decision” of being “happy to stay in Manchester” for another year, according to journalist Guillem Balague.

The Manchester City boss’ decision will likely bring smiles to the faces of his players.

Man City news: Guardiola has no relegation break clause in new contract

Previously, Ilkay Gundogan hailed Pep Guardiola as the greatest manager he has seen in his lifetime.

Nathan Ake lauded Guardiola as well, praising him for how uniquely he views the game as a whole.

With such senior figures holding Catalan in such high esteem, they would be overjoyed to have the opportunity to keep working with him beyond the 2024/2025 season at the Etihad Stadium. An interesting revelation has emerged about Guardiola’s brand-new deal.

The Guardian have revealed that in Pep Guardiola’s reported fresh contract extension, there is no relegation break clause in case the club are found guilty of their 115 financial charges by the Premier League.

In January, it was revealed that Manchester City could be relegated and their titles could be stripped from them if they are deemed to have committed financial wrongdoing.

Last month, a claim emerged that Guardiola’s feelings on Manchester City’s 115 charges were simply that he is not focused on them and if they club were punished, such a circumstance would only have boosted his chances of renewing his contract.

Pep Guardiola promised he’s manage Man City in League One

In November 2023, Pep Guardiola was quizzed whether he would consider his future if Manchester City were found guilty by the Premier League after the 10-point deduction handed to Everton.

Guardiola revealed that there was a higher likelihood of him staying at City if they were relegated to League One than if they won the Champions League.

The two-time treble-winner said via BeanymanSports: “It’s a good question, I will answer when I have the sentence. You are questioning me like we have been punished. In this moment, we are innocent until guilt is proven.”

“So, I know the people want it [for Manchester City to be punished]. I know it. I feel it. But wait, wait and see and the sentence will be done and after that, we will come here and explain to you. But absolutely, we’re not considering my future, whether it depends on being here or in League One.”

“There’s more chance to stay if I’m in League One or if we win the Champions League.”

Considering Pep Guardiola’s strong stance, it is unsurprising that there is no relegation break clause in his contract.
